Understanding and Breaking Free from Captivity and Strongholds (Part 1)

For As He Thinks

Prayer

Heavenly Father, God of my Lord Jesus Christ, I praise you and thank you for your revelation knowledge in this teaching. I thank you that this word falls upon the fertile soil of the heart of this child seeking to remember you. That this seed cannot and will not be snatched up, chocked up, or fall by the wayside. That the spirit, soul and body of this child has been prepared and predestined before time for what they are about to hear because of your great love for this child. That they will not only be hearers of this word but doers. I praise you Lord that there are no distractions as they listen. I speak in authority, by the authority given to me by my spirit being seated in high places in Christ Jesus at the right hand of the Father, with all things being under our feet. And because I have power over all the works of the enemy, every devil, demon, principality and power of the air, land and water seeking to afflict this child must flee. There is total peace and focus as your child listens to this word and is equipped to fight and is freed from all strongholds and regions of captivity in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!

6  “Do not eat the bread of a miser, Nor desire his delicacies; For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you. – Proverbs 23:6-7

A miser is a person who hoards wealth and spends as little money as possible. A miser is rooted or buried in the treasures of this world, a hoarder of worldliness who is only eager to offer a hand to watch his or her victim fall into captivity. A miser is so rooted in carnality that he or she cannot be rooted in Christ, for they are a dead tree. And, as we know, God is the God of the living, not the dead. To avoid being identified as a miser, one must be willing to be uprooted and raised from the dead, so that what we steward is multiplied, and it glorifies the Master.

For the past few weeks my wife has been my boss, and she’s been loving it! She gets to tell me what to do, where to go, and I obey, only occasionally I’ll stop to make sure I’m heading to the right house.

I have been helping my wife deliver packages as one of my side hustles while God is leading me to multiply the talents, He has placed in me. These same talents I was once a miser with. I chose to do this work with my wife because this is her peak season as a delivery driver. We get to spend some quality time together, working and talking about the life we share, encouraging each other with stories about the love of God. We’ve had some hard conversations about some of what we are dealing with as a couple, but the Lord led has us through them, and it has helped us to grow stronger together.

On one of these rides with her, she went into the back for a couple minutes, and I got lost in my thoughts. That happens a lot! I started thinking about military time, you know – 0 to 2400 hours, because I saw it on her package scanner. I became very focus on how military time works, and I started practicing being able to call it out exactly. I then imagined myself as a soldier on a mission, and how important it would be to know exactly how long it would take me to finish my goal. How each second would matter. Knowing that when I look at the time in that mission, I would know I’m exactly where I should be. As I meditated, I could even see visions of what I was thinking while focusing on this. I then began to think of Mission Impossible, and how in those films, every second counts, as well as how imaginative a film it is. That they would tell you every step of the way about the mission as it is taking place, but as a viewer, you would believe they were only telling you the mission plan. My focus was then directed to remembering the name of the main character. I couldn’t figure it out at first and spent most of the time meditating about it. Then, as though whispered, I remembered it was Ethan Hunt. Like I said, my thought process all took the same amount of time for my wife to go look for her package and coming back. Then we started driving. We came to a street and the name of the street shocked me. It was Hunt Road.

I was like, “what the heck!” I told my wife everything I had just told you, and how this road has the same name as what I had been meditating on. I said to her, “it appears according to Proverbs 23:7, what we think about the most becomes attracted to us.” But she said, “that it may be that what we think about the most is what we pay the most attention to.” I was unsure of her comment until the Holy Spirit told me to read both Proverbs 23:6 and 7. You see, most people only quote a part of verse 7. For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. When we treat scripture this way, it is like knowing only part of a story. But the scripture says.

6  “Do not eat the bread of a miser, Nor desire his delicacies; For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you. – Proverbs 23:6-7

So how exactly does this scripture connect to what we pay attention to the most? Well, the miser is selfish, a tight-fisted person who is possessive, and unwilling to be a blessing, most likely due to past experiences. A miser never believes he or she has enough, and in truth they don’ t, as worldly riches are not true wealth, and the miser must continuously grind to obtain more status and wealth for the sake of security. They bury what they have in hopes that it will never be taken from them. But despite what the miser believes, Jesus said this in Matthew 25:24-29.

24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed.

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ 26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.

29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Even though Jesus was telling a physical narrative for He knew all things in all men and all men, he was also teaching about spiritual matters. This scripture speaks about the moral Law and its completion by loving the Lord your God with everything you have and everything you are, even if what you have and are seems very little and loving your neighbor as yourself. A miser will never know love, for love has no return for a miser, and as he thinks in his heart, so he believes about his world and those in it, God included. That everyone else, especially God, must all be misers, hoarders, untrustworthy, deceptive, thieving, loveless, hateful, prideful, condemning, unjust, undeserving beings. The miser exists within a stronghold, and everything he does, whether he wants to or not, fortifies the stronghold, and if the miser ever extends his hand, it will surely be to draw someone into that stronghold.

A stronghold is defined as a fortified location that has been built to withstand attack. A location where a cause or belief is aggressively defended or promoted. Strongholds are thought patterns that have been ingrained in your mind and or are the result of traumatic experiences. Physical, mental, and spiritual strongholds exist in different realms, but are linked as a result of a single or multiple traumatic experiences. If there is a manifestation of a physical stronghold, there is most likely a mental and spiritual stronghold.

I told this story about the miser and my thoughts because the Holy Spirit has been teaching me about the soul and how it has influence over how we think, feel, respond to stimulation, and what sort of stronghold we live in. The imaginings of the soul is powerful! In Genesis 11:6, God had to intercede to stop the building of The Tower of Babel since mankind’s imagination had led them to rebellion again, post flood. What we meditate upon becomes our reality. We are drawn like moths to the flames because of what we dwell on. Without my even realizing it, my awareness had become so sensitive that something as seemingly insignificant as a road sign had taken on greater meaning. I was able to catch it right away. What we are thinking about the most can decide our reality, whether it is true or untrue. If you meditate on the Word each day and night, not letting it depart your heart, you will be drawn to the spiritual truths of God, gaining greater awareness of who you are, and who you are to God. So many people do not know who and Who’s they are, therefore forfeit a life full of truth and freedom.

Oh, what peace we often forfeit, oh what needles grief we bare. All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:31-32

Knowing the truth comes with incredible liberty, but also great responsibility. We are edified by Philippians 2:1-4 which teaches,

1Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

We also abide in the teachings of Philippians 2:5-11 which states,

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Okay, I’m going to say something that will probably sound very blasphemous to the religious leaders of our day. Brace yourself! We are taught to have the same mind that was in Christ Jesus, because man’s brain power is so formidable that it can compete with God’s in a worldly, catastrophic form. Why else would we be taught to let Christ mind be in us if we aren’t supposed to replace the old corrupt, terribly damaging mind with one we are supposed to have in the first place? With what Jesus has done for us, making you joint heirs with Him if you believe in Him, all of Philippians 2:5-11 applies to you also. How amazing is that? If you carry Christ, you are Christ, see Galatians 2:20. But let’s return to how man’s carnal mind might compete with God’s mind. Look at our world today and what mankind is capable of. God can create man, and man can now create man through cloning, genetic alterations, and even fusing man and machine, all without the presence of God’s essence in that abomination. The devil is striving to compete with God by harnessing God-given characteristics and powers inside humans, which he cannot imitate since he was not created in the image and likeness of God. Nonetheless, he has the ability to influence us. He entices us to mediate on wrong thinking, on carnal matters such as money and how to obtain it. Those who are obsessed with money will go to any length, even sin, to obtain it. Money becomes a reality, a god, and is worshiped, even if it is in the name of Jesus. When enticed into carnal ways of gaining money, people and things will be placed in the way to ensure that it is attained. Money, whether in excess or lack, is a powerful stronghold that the adversary erects in the lives of many, influencing people to his goal in order to exploit what God has placed in them.

4Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease! 5Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven. – Proverbs 23:4-5

Our world has been rocked by a man-made pandemic for nearly two years, and it is not expected to go away anytime soon. Well, I am not really going to go deeper into this topic, for discussing this virus created in a lab for numerous nefarious reasons, including money, will consume too much of this teaching, despite the fact that this virus and its weaponization have caused strongholds in the lives of billions of people. However, the Lord recently led me to research what a virus is, and here are my findings.

  1. A virus is a dead thing. Every living thing in creation are made up of cells. A virus is not made up of cells. It is made up of a few components or parts similar to cell.
  2. Every living thing is able to reproduce, it seed being within itself Genesis 1:12, as well as being able to grow. A virus cannot reproduce, or grow, but it can replicate, and it replicates by using a living cell as a host, or using a spiritual term, possesses the cell by entering the cell and then high jacking the cell’s cellular equipment to build more viruses. The cell itself is reprogrammed into a fortress, a factory for the replication of fully developed viruses.
  3. Every living thing uses up energy. Viruses cannot make energy; they are like vampires/parasites that feed off the energy of the cell they have possessed to make more viruses.
  4. Living things respond to stimulation, example: light, sound, touch, etc. Viruses do not respond to stimulation. I have come to realize viruses are dead physical manifestation of demonic entities and very akin to artificial intelligence. They cannot feel, touch, hear or interact as living things do, nor do evil spirits.
  5. Lastly viruses operate like a generational curse, demonic inheritance, or spiritual transference. A virus can live in two different phases or ways.
  6. The lytic phase: This is when the virus actively replicates in a host cell, like what I have described.
  7. The Lysogenic phase: This is when the virus’s genetic code makes itself a part of the cell’s genetic code and multiplies whenever the cell multiplies. And just like an evil spirit able to transfer from parent to child or from person to person.

This information has always been right there in our faces, and therefore God tells us;

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. – Hosea 4:6

Knowledge is one of the 7 Spirits of God, see Isaiah 11:2, yet we reject Knowledge because of how we have been conditioned to think about God, ourselves, this world, the spiritual realm which is more real than this physical realm. We have been deceived about who and who’s we are. We are supposed to be in the image and likeness of God but operate as though we are in the image and likeness of someone, or something else, or according to evolution nothing at all. We are supposed to do what we see our Father do, as Jesus the Forerunner did, yet while God is able to create, we destroy what He creates.

So, what is the solution when the enemy has hijacked/possessed a life, using a potential child of God as a factory of pollution that spills out into the environment, and transfers to potential generations, or people we encounter. It takes coming to remember God, remembering that Jesus and only Jesus is willing to make us clean. It takes confessing that truly He is Lord. That you come to realize that surrendering to Jesus does mean dying every day. You are going to have to die, but you are willing to trust that God is God of the living and not the dead, so you know you will live again, and better than you did before. It takes presenting this flesh as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to the Lord daily, Romans 12:1. It takes picking up the Word of God the Bible with your flesh man daily, physically doing it. The flesh being the outer court that it is. It takes not being conformed to this world, but being transformed by the renewing of the mind, Romans 12:2, by meditating on Holy Scripture which opens the way to the Holy of Holies. The mind being the inner court that it is. It takes being filled with the Holy Spirit our helper, our spirit testifying with The Holy Spirit in the Holy of Holies, Romans 8:16. Then the stronghold of the miser comes crashing down, and we run into the stronghold of The Lord praising and worshipping Him as in Psalm 18

I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

It then demands being purposeful, because faith without works is dead, according to James 2:17. And it takes extreme diligence, a cautious sober and vigilant watch for whatever that stronghold in your life was.

1 Peter 5:8 says,

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Be alert to how the adversary will try to trap you in a different version of the same stronghold. The enemy has no new tricks, only variations to the previous ones. And if you really want to break down strongholds swiftly and powerfully, abide in the spirit by reading the word through the eyes of the spirit, seeking The Holy Spirit for guidance, and following His instructions. Live a life of praising God, being grateful, worshipping Him even for the littles things you encounter in your day. Being obedient to that still small voice Who will never lead you away from His word but confirms it as you live. He brings the word alive in your life, for that is why it is called the living word. God is God of the living and not the dead, His word comes alive by believing and speaking it. By the power and authority God has given us in our tongues, we release the power of life into our lives and the atmosphere as we speak God’s word. Proverbs 18:21 states that, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” So what do you love? Loving God with all you heart, soul and mind, and loving your neighbor as yourself will compel you to speak life to every situation you encounter. One must be intentional in speaking life rather than death, for sin is continually crouching at our door, anticipating that we would say and believe death, permitting it to spring forth and establish a stronghold, but we must rule over it.

Bringing down strongholds takes living a life of fasting and praying. Choosing to refrain from carnal desires so that the flesh and soul are less dominant and we function more through the spirit. Fasting isn’t about receiving something from God; it’s about drawing closer to Him in order to get wisdom and revelation knowledge of Who He is, so that the eyes of our understanding is enlightened. Fasting is a form of surrendering. Fasting and prayer are intimately connected. Fasting and prayer are required to bring down strongholds. As Jesus stated, “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”- Matthew 17:21.

And, as previously stated, it is necessary to be purposeful about working out your salvation with fear and trembling so that you can live out what you learn and hear from God, in order to be not just hearers but doers of the Word.

Joshua and the other Israelites had to trust and yield to God’s spiritual and physical commands in order to bring down the city of Jericho. When they believed God, it did not take as long as it would have taken them to try to tear down the fortress of Jericho through carnal means. They would have fought for days, weeks, or years and suffered significant losses, and if they decided to wait it out, that fortress would still be there mocking (teasing) them. The walls of Jericho came down by faith, obedience and being intentional. Read Joshua 6 for more in-depth edification.

We must be filled with the Holy Spirit in order to break through and tear down strongholds, and no other spirit can replace a restored quickened spirit. We are extremely vulnerable to being hijacked by many spirits while we are of the world, much like a virus hijacking a cell. Every sin that is done to us, as well as every sin that we do, has a spirit. As a result, the way we learn to think is almost totally under the power of these evil spirits that have hijacked our already fallen spirits, souls, and bodies. I say almost because the Holy Spirit still hovers over the unbeliever, just as He did in Genesis 1. When we are in darkness, the Holy Spirit hovers over the dark waters, the void, and when we commit to Jesus, His Light is and separates us from the darkness.

According to the worldly mind set of psychology, spiritual people use demons and/or evil spirits as an excuse to avoid taking responsibility for what we do. Yes, we have choices, but there is more to it than that. Everything revolves around sowing a seed and reaping a harvest. For there to be sin, there must have been a seed of sin. When was the seed first planted? Figure this out and you will identify the stronghold.

When a believer is set free from a stronghold, he or she is not to return to that stronghold or to their previous way of life. I’ve described previously how a stronghold falls and remains down.

  1. Surrendering to Jesus daily, by dying to self, daily. It is not your will but His will be done.
  2. Picking up the Bible and absorbing scripture with the Holy Spirit teaching you.
  3. Praising and worshipping God even for the little things.
  4. Watching your mouth, being careful to not have a forked tongue, blessing one moment and cursing the next.
  5. Praying and fasting, denying your carnal desires to draw closer to God.
  6. Being intentional for these things take training and are to become a habit, forming a habitual walk with God.

When the carnal minded declares that there is no God and no evil spirits, they must seek the help of a psychiatrist or therapist who will tell them that they must blame those they can see or just look at themselves to fix their problems. Identifying your responsibility is simply one step toward finding a solution, yet they are taught that they are victims and only products of their environment. The therapist or psychiatrist then guides the sufferer through stages of recovery, but all the while, this individual is being conditioned to rely on shallow and worldly methods that act as crutches. So, when their crutches fall out from beneath them, they have nothing to hold them up and fall right back into what they used to do, only much worse.

Jesus said to the man, “Go and sin no more or a worst thing will come upon you!” John 5:14. Unbelievers and believers alike who refuse to recognize the Holy Spirit for what He is, “Helper, Comforter, Teacher,” discover the hard way that their hopes are built on shifting sand. I know, for I have seen my house fall.

Let me give you an example of how, as believers, we can and will be set free from strongholds if we listen to the Holy Spirit and discover the root of our affliction.

The other day I was driving around running errands and I just felt incredibly irritated. That irritation began to affect my thoughts, my mood, even how I felt in my body. I began questioning why I felt so irritated? The Holy Spirit reminded me that it was a question that led man into sin, and it is questioning sin that brings him out of captivity. I came to the realization that it must be me. That the reason I was irritated was because I allowed it, it was my thought process. I cannot hold others accountable for what I choose to believe. This is true, but again that is only a piece of the puzzle. Then the Spirit of The Lord Whom I am filled with said, “no it is not you, it is an evil spirit that is seeking a foothold in order to manipulate your thoughts and flesh, and once you recognize that, you can deal with that evil spirit with this very Word!”

“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. (And this was the key weapon of my warfare against the stronghold trying to be erected.) But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” – Romans 8:5-11

The Spirit inspired me to say Romans 8:11 over my flesh and soul. As believers, the flesh and its link to the soul are the only parts of us that evil spirits can attempt and often succeed in enslaving. But knowing, understanding, and having wisdom when to apply scripture – these 3 things being the very nature of The Spirit of God – is a lethal weapon against the kingdom of darkness and their setting up of strongholds in our lives. It was what changed everything for me, and that thought stronghold came crashing down. The Holy Spirit led me through deliverance by utilizing His wisdom and Word to cast this evil spirit from about me, which was possible because His Word is inscribed on my heart. Everything I’ve discussed as a strategy for breaking down strongholds is active in my life. My spirit knows the language of Heaven and can testify with the Holy Spirit. When you understand your rights as a child of God and the language of God’s Courtroom, you will not be subject to any person, place, or thing dominated by any evil spirit seeking to land and attach itself to it all it can in order to steal your joy. But nothing can take your joy, for The Father is Joy, The Son is joy, The Holy Spirit is joy. You only lose joy when you lose sight of what is true. Misdirection, deception, and illusions are caused by evil spirits. Unfortunately, those who live by the flesh will never realize who their actual adversaries are and so will never be free of them. Instead of cutting down the evil tree at its roots, they just pull away all the leaves, allowing the tree to flourish again in another season. They do not know the path of life, nor can they know joy and pleasure.

“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” – Psalms 16:11

Joy is a Spirit, THE SPIRIT, and is always present in God’s presence; if we are in Christ and He is in us, joy is always present in our presence. Also, who is at God’s right and if not Jesus? We are seated in high places in Christ Jesus. That means that we have pleasure always unless we are deceived into thinking we do not.

Ephesians 2:4-7 says this,

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

I’ve come to believe that God allows me, and any of us who choose to understand it, that we go through suffering so that we might be living testimonies, and every time I regain my sight and appreciate this, I praise Him. His wisdom, love, and grace is so amazing! I get to be a vessel usable, and acceptable in His sight. That the cracks in the pot of clay that I am is very beneficial to my brothers and sisters in Christ.

I am a living testimony!

One night I was meditating on what happened to me as a child. At 5 years old I was molested by someone close to me. She made me go down on her. I could still recall her smell. When this molestation happened my thoughts became infected, and at 5 I did not know or understand what was going on. It was not the last time this happened. This same person would also bully me mercilessly, and even tell me I was not loved, not even by my parents, and for some reason I believed her. There is truly nothing new under the sun. It is very much like the father of lies to corrupt where there should be trust and persuade us to believe that our Father does not love us, hence why we suffer. Another individual did the same thing to me. Suddenly between the ages of 5 to 7 years old I became hungry for this type of interaction, and I did not even understand it. I started messing around with the neighbor girls while playing house. Even then started messing with this one girl from the rural areas of Liberia that came to live with us. She was a little older than me. I was told she ended up running away because she lived in the city now and didn’t want to go to school. I never found out what ended up happening to her. When I came to America after a one-year tour of the Liberian civil war which added it’s spirits, I was exposed to pornography. Those evil spirits started to truly feast on my thoughts and habits, fortifying its strongholds. As a child I tried to get rid of pornography so many times but couldn’t. My perception about men and women were so warped that I use to think I might be gay. I measured myself, my worth by what I saw in pornography. I imagined I was that guy banging that chick. I wanted to be that guy so bad that I started touching other little children again, boys and girls alike. It didn’t matter to the spirit since spirits don’t have sexes as we do, it’s all the same to them, plus they’re influencing and forcing God’s beloved to do abominable things because they hate Him, they know it hurts Him, and they get to feed on and manipulate us like viruses.

I remember thinking one time, “why I am doing this?” Not understanding what was really going on, I just hated myself. The shame, the guilt, the hopelessness. Eventually at about 13, I cried out to God for help to stop, for Him to just make it stop. I was 13 when I gave my life to the Lord, without knowing what it signified, yet God gradually began a work in me, taking me through the Valley. God said He is near to the brokenhearted, and I have come to realize that he was near to me even though I had always felt so alone. I was broken free from the level of the stronghold of molesting other children. The porn level of the stronghold was not so easily conquered.

I was a virgin until I was 18 as far as intercourse, but that was about it. My soul was filthy, fractured, hidden in different regions of captivity! The only reason I was a virgin is because I was incredibly insecure. I used to think I was unattractive, and it wasn’t until much later in life that I realized I wasn’t. I am convinced that God allowed that spirit of insecurity to capture me and keep me for a long time because the damage would have been too severe if I had realized the carnal weapons I possessed! I would have been utterly unstable, like many others I know who have numerous spouses and children. This is, I now know part of my story written in the Lambs Book of Life. This is God’s infinite wisdom at work, even though it appears hateful and unloving to the rest of the world and even some believers because of the darkness in their lives. Those strongholds will not allow them to comprehend the Light that is Christ, and that this present suffering is for an exceeding glory. This is why so many people do not understand the book of Job. We ask why bad things happen to good people, yet there are no good people. There is only One Who is good, the Father of Lights in Whom there are no shifting of shadows. His light cast no shadows for His light penetrates everything. God seeks to constantly cancel out the darkness which can at times look so wrong to those in the dark. This makes sense, because when a person is in the dark, they cannot see or discern what is true, and must create their own reality for the darkness to make sense. Now that I can see, I know that my Heavenly Father knew that allowing me to be molested and permitting those spirits to ride my being would lead to such a revelation that I would have no questions about my God! This revelation knowledge of God permitting afflictions to come to us is so deep that I will have to expound on it in a future blog as The Holy Spirit leads. Because of my genetic link to witchcraft and the occult, I’ve come to realize that if these traumatic events including being uprooted from my home in Liberia had not occurred, I would not be among the saved today. I would not have this testimony, which will transform the lives of countless individuals by breaking down their strongholds.

Later when I did start having sex, I believed it was love. That spirit raped me into wrong thinking for years, literally until 2020. That even in my marriage, I had no understanding of love or intimacy until God led me to the end of myself and I died. Jesus said that if you hate someone, you have already murdered them. I hated myself and wanted to die, and in 2020, the year of perfect vision, I pleaded with God to let me, and I did. After my death, I learned the truth about intimacy through surrendering to Jesus, and what intimacy is truly supposed to be. That it must begin with God before a husband and wife can participate. That’s right, a husband and wife only!  And when they partake, He is present because they have both been with Him first, and what they are doing is worship to the Lord. God is the one being into whom we may enter, and He simultaneously enters us, and this be Holy and good. That it is not a parasitic or viral interaction in which one being feeds off the other and cannot give anything back. Our relationship with God is more symbiotic of a kind, with Him providing far more. He offers us all of Himself, His Kingdom, His righteousness, His Son, His only begotten in exchange for our little faith in Him. That is why, after discovering that pornography is a soul-tying sexual ritual that perpetually traps the spirit, soul, and body of these stronghold-held performers, and that the viewer is a participant in this entanglement. I can no longer defile my intimacy with God and my wife by even seeking to meditate on it. I am alive and have been set free by this renewal of my mind.

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:1-10

That is true intimacy, true love! That is why men are able to be His bride and He our Bridegroom. This is why everything else that is of the lust of the flesh and out of God’s harmonious design is an abomination. He cannot partake in what He does not approve of. This revelation is only a small part of what I’ve learned through spending time with God. Being in the depths of God’s truth has changed me and continues to do so. I know I’m not complete; everyday patience must have its perfect work in me.

I trust the Holy Spirit, and seek total obedience to Him. He told me when He led me through the remembrance of my childhood trauma, “put this testimony in the teaching.” I was hesitant, but He told me it would bring me and others freedom. That they will believe by the word of my testimony. As I listened to the Holy Spirit and wrote this message, I wept! I wept because I had realized what my 40-year journey had been, what Jesus had carried me through and is leading me to. I am in awe of Him! The goodness of the Lord, His unfailing love. That He, the Lord of all creation, would kneel to me, to make me clean, and tell me that He knows, feels, and cares about me, and that I am the reason He chose to be nailed to a tree, and that if He had to do it again, He would. That no longer is any of what I have been through or will go through my burden, but His. All He requires is that I believe. That is true liberty, and by the word of this testimony I am free! This is Jesus’ revelation to those in the synagogue of Nazareth coming alive in my life and possibly the lives of so many others by what Jesus has done for me.

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me, To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” – Luke 4:18-19
